Genuine Epson Ink for small desktop Printers is so extremely expensive, that we in principle always recommend to use a third party ink, like Lyson.
If you decide not to use a third party ink, you can better think of buying a Wide Format Printer, since with these printers you are able to use high capacity Ink cartridges, which makes the ink per ml. much cheaper. The Desktop Printer Epson 3800 (A2) is using 80ml cartridges and is not much bigger than an Epson 2400 (A3+ printer) The slightly higher cost of these printers is earned back very quickly.
Of course, the cheapest way is always using a third party ink, particularly now Epson raised it's prices during the year 2008 twice in total between 20% and 25%
