(Remote) ICC Printer Profiling
"Achieving accurate prints from your printer"
If you decide to purchase a profile from us, our remote access support service is included in the price of the ICC Profiles! We're nice like that.
This is not an extended colour management training but we will get you going with your new printer, paper ink combination!

Step 01:
Make an appointment with us for a live remote session, whereby you will share your screen with us.
Step 02:
No need to read manuals anymore. We will help you on the spot with printing of the test charts, which you will need to send to us.
Step 03:
Print the test chart TC 9.18. for the generation of RGB ICC-Profiles.
We will print a couple of test charts on the same paper with different printer driver settings, in order to find the best driver settings for your printer, paper and ink combination.
Once we receive these prints from you in the post, we will make an evaluations and decide which one might be the best. Sometimes we decide to measure more than 1 and try them out, printing our test images. What we look at are the densities of the high-lights and mid-tones and well as the black and the amount of shadow detail we expect to see in the print and not to forget: we always need smooth tonal transtions as well.
It is more difficult to get the colours accurate with the use of a printer driver setting, which is dumping too much ink (or not enough) on the paper to start with.

Step 04:
Send the printed test chart(s) to us only after you let them properly dry for at least one day if you are using dye-based ink. If you are using pigment based inks, you can send the target immediately.

When we receive your chart we will spring into action:
We put this printed test chart on our measuring table and measure all the colour patches. We use the Spectrolino and the SpectroscanT from GretagMacbeth, which we think is the best equipment on the market.

Step 06:
The measurement data will be used in GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker 5 software to calculate the ICC Profile(s): it is possible to calculate differently optimised ICC Profiles:
For example
1. Standard calculation is for 5000K or normal viewing conditions
+ Classic Gamut mapping + paper-coloured Grey
2. The following viewing condition optimisations are possible:
6500K
Cool White Fluorescent
Narrow Band Fluorescent
Fluorescent F7 (6500K)
Fluorescent F8 (5000K)
Incandescent Illuminant
A Daylight 5500K (D55)
HMI Light 4800K
Light Box GTI D50
Light Box Judge III D50
Tungsten 3200K
Tungsten 3400K
3. Higher colour saturation variations: LOGO Chroma Plus and LOGO Colourful.
4. Colour correction taking the paper white in consideration (Neutral grey).
But do not worry we will usually just give you a standard calculation unless you ask for something different.
Step 07:
We will then either upload your profile(s) onto the download page, so you will be able to download the profile at any time for the next few weeks (after around 2 weeks they will be removed), or we send them directly to you by email. Just let us know how you would like to have them delivered.
Step 08:
After saving the profile onto your computer desktop, now drag and drop the profile(s) into the system colourfolder (Windows PC), Colorsync. folder (MacOSX), or Colorfolder within the Rip application folder (Shiraz, Colorbyte Image Print Rip) (You can find the directory in one of the downloadable pdf manuals)
Of course, we can again make an appointment for a LIVE SUPPORT session whereby we do all the work for you.
Step 09:
You are now ready to start using the ICC profile(s). Happy and accurate colour reproduction is now yours.
